Demonstration of Mediumship: CANCELLED 19/03/20

**Due to the rapidly developing situation regarding coronavirus, we regret to announce that the event on Thursday has been cancelled! **

All those who have already purchased tickets will be refunded. For those members who bought tickets at our last meeting, we will refund them when we see them next (we know who you are!). Also, those that have purchased tickets via Eventbrite will be refunded, as soon as we contact Eventbrite. Please be patient. We will ensure that nobody will be out of pocket!
We hope to reschedule this event for the Summer – but have yet to set a date, because (like we’ve mentioned) the situation is developing rapidly and we won’t know when things will return to normal!

N.B. This meeting will be held in the Boyd Orr Building, Glasgow University (and not our usual venue of the TS, Queens Crescent).

The Society has a long tradition of providing an opportunity for Spiritualist Mediums to demonstrate their abilities in front of the public ~ and for our members and visitors to be able to judge for themselves whether the information is accurate, specific and meaningful!

This year we are delighted to welcome back, Medium Ricky Martin, who will be joined by two Mediums who have yet to demonstrate for us: Jennifer Phillips and Diane Hodgson

Ricky Martin, like many mediums, had experiences from an early age. But he kept them to himself, thinking that he would not be believed. In later years, his sister encouraged him to attend a Spiritualist Church and, eventually, Ricky began to develop his mediumistic abilities. He now serves the SNU (Spiritualist National Union), as well as independent churches all over the UK. Ricky has assisted the SSPR on many occasions, including at our fundraising Mediumship Demonstrations; Investigations; and at well-attended and well-received Psychometry Evenings in 2011 and 2019.

Jennifer Phillips has been working as a platform medium for the last 15 years.
She began her development in a closed circle (old school!) at the Glasgow Association of Spiritualists and continued her development by attending many courses; mainly with ministers Judith Seamen & Stella Upton and at AFC.
Jennifer has a huge passion for spiritualism and enjoys all aspects of mediumship and, in her own words: “I travel anywhere spirit takes me. I love taking church services and also run my own church & development group in Balfron for the last 8yrs and expanding to teaching workshops. Charity work is a huge part of what I do and I love to help where I can“.

Diane H

Diane Hodgson has been a spiritual medium for 35 yrs with an 8/10 year break to bring up her children. She trained at Ayr Spiritual Centre and her mentor was the formidable Margaret Nicholson who, according to Diane, “let you away with nothing… no nonsense!”
In Diane’s words: “What brought me to spiritualism was when my father died then my mother… I was told when you die you die…. I couldn’t understand this…”
Tragically, eight years ago, Diane’s daughter died with epilepsy: “this brought me back to spiritualism, as she was only twenty-two… I had a dream my mentor was taking me back to the church where I started to start again… That was 8 yrs and have never looked back..”.

The Demonstration will be held in The Boyd Orr Building, Lecture Room C, Glasgow University – Doors Open at 7.00, but the event will begin at 7.30.

Also please note: There will be an experiment conducted on the night in the form of an anonymous questionnaire. Attendance confirms your agreement to taking part in this experiment! [It will be painless form filling in and box ticking but we’ll be conducting psychical research – what the SSPR is here for!]

The Evening will be a Fundraiser for the SSPR and other charities chosen by the demonstrating mediums. The event will be ticketed: with tickets available to SSPR Members for £5 and to Visitors/Non-Members at £10.

Tickets for Members at the reduced rate will go on sale from February the 20th at the SSPR Meeting in 17 Queens Crescent.

Tickets for Non-members/Visitors will be available from online via Eventbrite! Here is the link: When it goes live – tickets will go fast!
